The Brief

The client approached Angle Up Studio to create a short promotional film to support the launch of a Caribbean rum brand. The goal was to introduce the product with a strong sense of atmosphere and identity, creating visual content that felt premium, expressive, and aligned with the culture surrounding the brand.

The film needed to work across multiple platforms, including web and social, while maintaining a consistent visual language.


The Challenge

The primary challenge was time.

The client reached out with less than two weeks before their intended launch date, just before the Christmas period. This presented several constraints:

  • A tight production schedule
  • Limited location availability
  • A modest budget
  • Reduced flexibility due to seasonal closures

Despite this, the project still required a controlled environment that would allow the visuals to feel intentional rather than improvised.

The Approach

Given the timeframe, efficiency in pre-production was essential.

We worked quickly to:

  • Define the visual direction and tone of the film
  • Identify a suitable location that aligned with the brand aesthetic
  • Create a concise shot list to maximise production time

After scouting multiple options, we secured a bar that offered the right balance of character, lighting control, and practicality within the schedule.

On set, the focus was on:

  • Clean, deliberate framing
  • Controlled lighting to enhance mood and texture
  • Capturing both hero moments and detail shots to support multiple edits

This approach allowed us to work efficiently without compromising the visual standard.


The Outcome

Despite the tight turnaround, the project was delivered on time for launch.

The final assets included:

  • A polished brand promo film suitable for website and campaign use
  • A vertical teaser reel optimised for social platforms

The content provided the client with a strong visual foundation for their launch, presenting the product in a way that felt confident, considered, and aligned with their brand positioning.
